Wrapped in copper and lined with wood planks, the Lamplighter School Innovation Lab reflects an ambitious plan to reimagine the school’s campus. The metal was chosen after surveying the school’s existing buildings, which include many copper elements.
Prefabricated standing seam copper panels on the roof give way to flush seam copper panels on the walls. The copper skin provides the building with a timeless material that will age gracefully with little maintenance. After only two years, the lab’s patina has a warmth that complements its surrounding landscape. The approximately 10,000-square-foot Innovation Lab now serves the Lamplighter School’s 450 students from pre-K through 4th grade.
