In 1992, Ron Schell joined the startup company New Tech Machinery (NTM) to aid in designing and building portable gutter and panel machines. Schell had previously designed a Mach II gutter machine prototype that featured a polyurethane drive roller, now standard in most portable rollformers. The first NTM 5” Mach II gutter machine was delivered to Washington State in 1994.

Over the next 30 years, Ron played a crucial role in the development of rollforming equipment. His innovative work resulted in nine patents.
The revolutionary design of the Mach II, conversion of the SSP portable panel machine to the current SSQ Quick Change, and their impacts on the industry stand as the highlights of Ron’s career. He has a deep passion for innovation and product design.
