This Design-Build project was based on a 3-year timeline, from design to completion, of the customer’s 13,000 square foot pool house and dove cote. The use of graduated slate tile thicknesses of ½”, 5/8”, and ¾” presented various roof challenges since the overall tile length/reveal reduces as its thickness reduces to the ridges. Add to that, the dovetail cut tiles that curve on the on the hip ridges as well as the bottom required precise attention to detail and expert installation.
When a project involves such a high degree of design vision, planning, and product selection for project aesthetics as this, the same level of quality is to be expected in the foundation/roof underlayment that supports it. Kirsch Building Products/Sharkskin® Roof Underlayments were roofer Greg Glandt’s choice to meet the quality requirements of this project.
Greg, who has been a roofing contractor for over 30 years, started using Sharkskin Ultra® premium nail down metal, slate and concrete/clay tile roof underlayment some 5 years ago. And installs Sharkskin Ultra® under his slate and clay tile roofs in the greater Saint Louis, Missouri, market.
He likes Sharkskin Ultra®’s superior performance parameters, 12-UV exposure rating, high-temp rating, high wind resistance, hail resistance, slip-resistance even when wet, light grey surface, which is cooler for his installers to work over, and all with a 50-year warranty.
This beautiful 205-square slate roof deserves a quality roof underlayment.
