April Metal Roofing is the Metal of Honor issue. Congratulations to all of the companies who won this year going above and beyond their competition in quality, service and value. We appreciate you, but the members of the metal roofing community salute you.
We are experiencing something that I am certain all of these companies have gone through: growing pains. Our core business is doing great but sometimes success can border on being too much of a good thing. Specifically in regard to the Max Builds books.
Max Builds is our series of kids’ books designed to introduce kids to the construction trades, in a positive way at a young age.
The first printing of Max Builds a Metal Roof was released October 1, 2025 at the Construction Rollforming Show. Our first printing was 5,000 books. We are in the process of arranging the second printing. Max Builds a Pole Barn will be available by the time you read this. And, I have the first story boards for the third book, Max Builds a Barndominium.
We are 100% committed to the Max Builds project. The response was significantly better than we anticipated. Because of that, fulfillment and the other organizational aspects are consuming more time than we allocated. Since we give the books away, and sponsorship only covers printing and postage, we need to manage time efficiently to not detract from our core business.
We are still sending out books. The books are still free. The goal of bringing the next generation into the trades is still front and center. But, it is taking longer for us to send the books and release new titles than we would like.
Thank you for your patience as we continue to move forward and try to navigate something that is a new area for us.
